Huntsville, Ontario
One of the reasons for the trip to Huntsville was to check out the progress of the project on Main Street. What was once two movie halls that closed down during COVID, are now being transformed into a temple and a restaurant with two storeys for residents. They are situated next to each other and are in the final stages of renovation. A kind-hearted Punjabi man, Mr. Prasher, is a devotee and a developer, and he is channeling some of that good time towards the spiritual. It is admirable.
Huntsville is a cottage country tourist trap. It is nestled in Muskoka where there are green trees, rocks, and water in every direction.
The Gujarati community also have quite the foothold with the hospitality business in the area. And with an evening sangha at the home of one of the bhakti bands, Mahapurna from Toronto, sang mantras, while a new couple locally now with origins east, Indradev from Siberia, and Shyamasundari from Ukraine, played along to enchant the day away.
I also met a local guy, Kim, an ex-hippie and a Mason by trade, and a musician for fun. He was singing some bluegrass on guitar, spotted me at the Econo-Lodge parking lot, and asked, “Who is Krishna?”
“He is a master pep talk presenter and helped his down and out warrior friend, Arjuna.”
Kim let me know that he found Lord Jesus, but respected Krishna all the same. That's progressive.
