Oakville, Ontario
What an absolute blessing it is to have the company of three great souls who have given everything to the cause of constructing the largest Vedic temple in the world. Visiting us in Southern Ontario are Jauanivas, Sunanda and Braj Bilas, all stationed in the headquarters of Iskcon in Mayapura in West Bengal. The project, “Temple of Understanding” TOVP will be in its completion in 2026. The trio have come for fund raising and the target today in this endeavour was our community in Oakville, just outside of Toronto.
The community in Oakville has been a gradual growing group that gathers every Sunday in a posh yoga studio called, “ I Gita “. The first couple to be initiated from the group was recent. At the home of Kasyapa and Pancami, families converged and pledged their devotional amount to the TOVP cause. Prasadam (blessed food) followed which was absolutely the best. (Everyone knows my favourite - asparagus. That was on the menu).
Actually Oakville was my second trip for the day in support of the three musketeers. A first visit was at the home of Visakha and Punya Sravana at Midtown Toronto. The couple committed to TOVP and also to our tummies. For me, baked potatoes does the job. You can guarantee that when Vaishnavas come together there will be mantra, prasadam and warmth.
My driver, Nityananda, to the above locations was kind to drop me off after Oakville at York St. which gave me 4.2 kilometres to destination, home, the temple. Actually I insisted. I need to walk off the asparagus and the spuds. It was 10:30 p.m.
MAY THE SOURCE BE WITH YOU!
