It is primarily Prabhupadadev who coordinates my programs in Guyana. The latest topic was held at the seawall right next to the Atlantic. “Youthful Ambassadors of Krishna Consciousness” was our focus. The night before in Berbice, we spoke on the topic “Bridges” since the venue was near the bridge over-arching the Berbice River. A bridge can be seen as a metaphor in spirituality. Through the system of Parampara, disciplic succession, one bridges the gap between a teacher and a listener. In the case of participation of youth, one most organically hands down the information of truth to the next generation. It is the way of disseminating the wisdom and the culture of Krishna.
I initiated the chat regarding the passing of the torch in the midst of quality ocean breeze. Questions and realizations by mainly the younger gen followed. Stimulating!
We have incredible talent and intelligence amongst those in the late teens to the 20s. It is most encouraging. And I see it all over the world. Let the elders be the cheerleaders and the blessers of those who have fresh and new ideas. No one needs to change the product, but we do need to package the product with a newness.
After a lively hour and a half which included kirtan, something our young folks are good at, I took the liberty to do what I’ve done in the past – walk that seawall. It is special.
