PUTTING ON MILES

Saskatchewan/ Alberta

There is no doubt in my mind that my days in the Prairies are enwrapped in adventure, but it is also a time for sacrifice for greater gains, in this case, for Jagannath. The 12 hours or so, that Mahadev, Annapurna and I spent on the road today is for His pleasure. Initially I was hoping to see a Chariot Fest for Him in Regina, then Winnipeg and continuing east, but the Universal Lord has His own plans. For the sake of being present at the 2nd annual “rope and wheels” event in Red Deer, I wanted to encourage the staff there and that meant back tracking to the west.

These visits to relatively new communities are essential in building the core member’s enthusiasm, hence the U turn, so back to Edmonton, Alberta, we went.

It was a maidstone that we took our break, in a park, at a picnic table, under a spruce tree and with my phone propped up and aimed at it’s speaker for a message on Chapter 7. The famous song writer Joni Mitchel lived in Maidstone as a child. It is also a town that Garuda, my support person for a third cross country walk, and I camped out here just off of the yellow head Highway. Going down this road brings back fond memories.

Finally we connected with Satyaurato, our young Iskon representative here in Red Deer, who is the main organiser. He will be married to Juhi from Calgary later this month. Congrats to you, Satya !
