Srikakulam, India

SOUTH INDIA'S TEMPLE TOP.
SOUTH INDIA'S TEMPLE TOP.

My dear friends, Revati Raman, Sambha, and I, just finished visiting one of those vintage temples from the time of the five Pandavas, where on top of a massive mile-long rock, Rama and Sita had meditated.  We were driving towards our destination, a new temple project in South India, when I spotted a herd of goats, and a question came to mind.

“What percentage of people here in Andra Pradesh are vegetarian?”

Bath, my bhakti buddy, responded in a similar way, which was 6%, thereabouts.

“They eat goats?”

“Yes; no cows, but goats.  Rajasthan and Gujarat have everyone beat for the veg diet.  Most probably, the winner is Rajasthan.”

We were on our way to this rocky setting of the new project where cobras abound (they are friendly snakes, assured Sambha).  It was at this location that we had darshan of beautiful Jagannatha deities, and where we lunched.  Sometimes the chilies overwhelm our group.

“Please cut down or avoid altogether,” was our request.  Three of our men got sick, while another one was recovering.

This evening, our thespian team checked into the Sunrise Hotel, and right next to it is the Convention Centre; an utsav program was held.  Some super professional dancers stunned the audience.  Then, it was my turn, not to dance, but to speak on “The Power of the Name.”  I went up onto the stage with some apprehension, but by Krishna’s grace, I was able to capture their hearts, according to Revati.
