IN THE DARK STRIKES A LIGHT

Christie Pits, Toronto

Many of us, regardless of where we come from, believe the world is being crushed by evil forces. What is left of morality appears to be crumbling. Respect for each other is waning, and an overall great burden of hate is escalating. I just heard that Cuba had undergone an earthquake. There is lots of devastation. I hope that in the aftermath people are safe, including those devoted to Krishna. I am trying to contact someone over there to give a report. In the meantime, I'm asking for prayers.

We have our difficulties at homebase here in North America. In Toronto, we heard of a mass shooting with 12 people dead. The world is not the same, and we wonder for how long.

Collectively, and individually, we feel the tension in the air.

But let's not be pulled down. Paul, Karuna, and I, desired to get out and calm those nerves down by way of a walk and a chant. We ambled along DuPont St. and met up with Susan along the way. Our foursome took to the sidewalk and met people along the way. We admired a gorgeous Birch tree in all its whiteness and wonder in the midst of a dreary day. It made me think of how, in a jaded world, Krishna is still there for us.

Another item us walkers took care of was to pay a visit to see Subuddhi, our dear senior lady who admits she's often lonely. In darkness we need to light a torch and start with a candle.
