Pune, India
For the last two days I have been designated to table #3 where a group of five are discussing and brainstorming on topics assigned to us. The two top discussion points are 1. guru tattva, or the position of guru (teacher), and 2. nurturing relationships between leaders.
On the first topic, my comment is there is the need to demystify the guru. Without any further explanation on this deep subject, I will defer to the next topic. Before I flew to India, I knew I was going to meet some nice people, but anticipated a few leaders who I knew had an abrasive nature. I had some assumptions which sometimes turn into assertions, and hence, what evolves is a disconnect in relationships. All who attended are real gentlemen and women.
In scripture (shastra), the goddess Parvati had some assumptions toward Chitraketu; and in the case of Srnghi, the sage's son had an assumption toward the fatigued King Pariksit. In both scenarios, judgements were made which led to misunderstandings and some upheavals.
I do want to reiterate that the company I'm keeping is just fantastic. Even the meetings are run efficiently. My recent experience at the MAN-tra Retreat where men of bhakti and integrity came together, was just a piece of cake. And now this rendez-vous of great mission people cooperating so nicely is just overall a great experience.
We call it sangha.
