GETTING KRISHNA OUT

Sunday, June 9th 2024

Fredericton/ Moncton/ Halifax

The Maritime pilgrimage goes on. Three cities covered today.

It started in Fredericton on the north side. My travel companion, Nityananda and I, hit a new trail which led us to the location where dozens and dozens of boys were at baseball practice, and at 8 in the morning. Not bad for sleep-in Sunday morning. These kids weren’t exactly attending church, but you could see they were serious about something of value – better than doing games on their devices.

They weren’t sure what to make of two fellows in Indian clothes and on a morning pilgrimage. “What are they carrying in their hand,” they must have been asking themselves.

We are in a meditation chant as we walk.

Vyas drove us to Moncton, a progressive and bilingual city. The Hindu community secured a building downtown and we were invited for chanting, a walk and prasadam. I was happy to hit on some points in the talk.

What are the components of the soul?

Answer: Sat, cit, ananda. Constant, cognizant and content.

What are the three ingredients to peace?

Answer: God is THE enjoyer. God is THE proprietor. God is THE friend.

We were well received in Moncton and, so too, on Spring Garden Ave. in Halifax at the heart of Dalhousie University. A group of chanters from Iskcon braved the street and held Kirtan in a most energetic way. Pratik, our driver, Nityananda and I, found ourselves in a circle of song and movement. Onlookers and passerby gave us those Sunday afternoon smiles.

No matter the city, our intent is always the same – share Krishna, give Krishna, see Krishna in all that we attempt to do.
