FROM THE WED TO THE BED

Saturday, July 20th 2024

Thunder Bay, Ontario

I was proud to be at the wedding for Sukavak and Dola. Sukavak, 29, I knew at birth. A nice guy, mrdunga drumming, is a banker, and overall is a nice human being and good devotee. I’m truly happy for the couple.

I read my poem "Love and Marriage” to the crowd and the message is all about commitment.

Before any of the ritual commenced I was whisked off to the airport and after a 2 hour flight I landed in Thunder Bay for the festival of India at Marina Park. My God ! I missed the mini parade but arrived just in time to meet the VIP’s on the stage. My words to the audience expressed how I loved the Thunder Bay Area with all its naturalness and that it is a great place for solitude as well as get together.

I was happy to see Caru again, who in Toronto rapped out those stories on the mic, and what a joy it was to see Janardan, a bhakti musician, whom I accidentally bumped into in Utah while on my U.S. walk. Billy also came doing his dj stuff throwing on those mantras. Malini, the grand daughter of Subuddhi, the most fabulous cook, has got down her dance and song.

By the time the event was over it was 8:30p.m and time for my walk-a seven to eight kilometre stretch to a Victoria Avenue apartment, my bed accommodation. I met various pedestrians along the way, among them was Jay, a homeless guy, who said,”Are you a ….? I’ve never seen a….” And I finished his line. “A monk before !”.

“Thank you,” he said. “Can I play a card trick for you for some change to feed my dog?” I agreed. He successfully achieved his beat over a 3 of diamonds. I gave him all I had - $ 1.25. He was happy.
