EAST AND WEST OF THE VALLEY

Tuesday, June 25th 2024

Venables Valley, British Columbia

The nights can be cool and days warm. When Prem and I met in the middle of the valley at Saranagati Village he said most candidly, "It is 6'celsius," I agreed. It is June-vary. With this cooler than average weather we embarked on our walk at the 6 am spot and decided to head for where the sun casted some rays. Perhaps cowardly we stayed within those merciful limits. After all mountains do throw shade.

The walk was completed and the temple program began, also in the middle of the valley, on the side where pines are more prevalent. The discussion included in the program was Bhagavatam based on Canto 9 regarding marriage and the advantages or disadvantages of arranged marriage, today's trends in partnership etc. It was interesting.

My lunch was at Mark and Sunny's place. But before the healthy meal I was escorted through their cleaned forest and garden which are in higher elevation in the valley, where there's more fir than pine. By now the sun made everything very comfortable, even to the point of an outside patio meal.

Being in the mountains makes phone call reception quite spotty. I was lucky to keep to my weekly zoom Gita chat and manage to keep on top of time zone differences.

I want to thank evening hosts Manu and Satarupa for their gracious open house darshan of their fine deities. Some of our pioneer members of Saranagati came for Kirtan and Katha.

Katha means discussions about Krishna, His world and how we play a role in all of this.
